STATION MANAGER, Saltend

We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced Station Manager to work at our 1200MW gas-fired power station in Hull. 

 

The Station Manager has direct responsibility for the strategic and commercial operation of the power station and associated infrastructure, delivering objectives in line with plant operational targets and the Company business plan.


  • Key accountabilities

    • Meet consistently health and safety, environmental, production and financial targets as defined by the plant’s operational key performance indicators (KPI’s) and strategic business plan set by the company

    • Manage the short term and long term performance and activities of the power plant to maximise shareholder value

    • Execute the decarbonisation plan as defined by the company

    • Manage the business to comply with legislative, regulatory and Company policies, procedures and standards

    • Implement appropriate initiatives to improve technical, health, safety and environmental performance

    • Lead the workforce to achieve business objectives by providing leadership and appropriate direction to the team 

    • Ensure technical risks are managed in accordance with good operating practices and industry standards.

    • Full profit and loss accountability for the asset

    • Ensure proper planning, budgeting and execution of major maintenance, capital programmes and projects

    • Drive ongoing performance improvements in procurement and contract management

    • Ensure procurement is carried out in accordance with Company policies and procedures

    • Ongoing support to the Company’s strategy

    • Maintain all existing ISO standards  

    • Responsibility for business continuity planning (BCP)


  • Who we are looking for

    • Engineering degree level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent

    • Proven experience within the power industry or similar industry

    • Demonstrated ability to apply professional expertise in an operational environment with excellent technical competence

    • Professional status within an engineering institution, an ability to make quality decisions based on technical knowledge, analysis, experience and judgement

    • Management qualification, with proven leadership and management skills and excellent communication skills at all levels

    • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent, managed issues of quality, environmental, and health and safety legislation  

    • Contract management and negotiation skills, commercial awareness and business acumen, proven large EPC delivery with ability to meet project deadlines and schedules  



This is a permanent role based at Saltend Power Station, Hull. You must live, or be prepared to be located, within a commutable distance from the power station. You will have the legal right to work in the UK and be subject to national security vetting clearance.
