The Apprenticeship Programme

This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in a career in the energy industry to gain hands-on industry work experience, achieve an Advanced Apprenticeship qualification in electrical engineering, and to earn while you learn.


We take your training and development very seriously and invest heavily to provide you with all the tools you will need to be successful, as you progress through your career in the energy industry. The apprenticeship scheme offers hands-on experience and comprehensive training, allowing you to earn while you learn. Working alongside skilled professionals, you will gain insights into station operations, maintenance, and engineering, with the opportunity to specialise in electrical engineering.


You will be following the Welsh Engineering Manufacturing Level 3 apprenticeship standard with our training partner Coleg Cambria at the Deeside campus. At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have some impressive qualifications under your belt, including: Level 2 NVQ in engineering, BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and an NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline.


Your employment will be governed by a fixed term contract with a duration of four years. You may have the opportunity to complete your apprenticeship prior to the conclusion of this term or progress onto further qualifications, subject to your progress. This will be subject to your qualifications at the commencement of employment. 


Entry requirements

  • Minimum 5 or more GCSEs at A-C or Grade 4 or above, including Maths, English, and Science
  • Keen interest in engineering, technology, or the energy sector
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
